\href{http://bit.ly/2aEcbvH}{\textbf{Course Description:}} & This course is an introduction to fundamental mechanics and techniques for performing operations with algebraic expressions, and subsequently solving linear equations, systems of linear equations and quadratic equations. The course also introduces trigonometric functions and is designed to develop methods of solving right angles
and oblique triangles using trigonometry. \\
{\textbf{Prerequisites:}} & MATH ACT 19 or MATH SAT 460 or COMPASS 36 or MATH 0095 or MATH 0088 or MATH 1001 with a āCā or better or concurrent enrollment in MATH 1001. MAJOR RESTRICTION: MAJORS in the College of Science and Technology. \\
\textbf{Calculator policy:} & Part of this course is practicing using calculators. A scientific calculator will be sufficient for our purposes. \\
\textbf{Attendance policy:} & Every class meeting should be attended by the student in its entirety, but attendance will not be recorded for a grade. If a class is missed, it is \textit{the student's} responsibility to find out what was missed and to pick up any returned work. \\
\textbf{Homework:} & The homework will be assigned and completed through MyLabsPlus. The textbook contains an access code to the online homework. \textit{\textbf{If}} paper homework is assigned, it will be announced in class and posted to the class webpage and Moodle page. Homework will be worth a total of 200 points in the course. \\
\textbf{Quizzes:} & Quizzes will be regularly given in this course; each is worth 10 points. If you miss an in-class quiz, you will not be permitted to make it up. Only the top 10 quizzes will be counted for credit. \\
\textbf{Exams:} & There will be three one hour exams in this course each worth 100 points. See the calendar below for exam dates. \\
\textbf{Final exam}: & The final exam will be comprehensive and will be worth 200 points. It will be a \textbf{multiple-choice} test 25 questions long. \\
\textbf{Make-up exam policy:} & If an exam is to be missed due to an excused absence (as defined in the student handbook), then it is the \textit{\textbf{student's responsibility}} to arrange an alternative time to take the exam at least one week before the exam is given. In such a case, the student will complete an equivalent exam at an alternate time \textit{\textbf{before}} the normal exam time. If the student misses an exam due to an unexcused absence, the exam may be replaced with the percentage earned on the final exam. The unexcused absence policy only applies \textit{\textbf{only once}}, so further exams missed due to unexcused absences yield a score of zero. \\
\textbf{Extra credit policy:} & Extra credit opportunities may be available throughout the course and will be announced through the usual channels. Points earned through extra credit will be simply added to the final score earned by homework and exams. \\
